Jason Van Tessel

CEO & Creative Director, Mouth Media

Jason Van Tassel is a graduate of Dalhousie University and the Information Technology Institute. Originally hailing from Halifax, he relocated to Toronto in 1999 after a three-year contract teaching conversational English in Tokyo.

Jason was a founding staff member of OUTtv, previously PrideVision TV, the world’s first GLBT television network, which launched in September 2001. As the Web Producer of the network’s 500+ page website, Jason was involved in all forms of online marketing including design, content production, advertising and copywriting and oversaw a team of contract writers. He was also heavily involved in traditional forms of marketing at the network including event marketing. Jason was also an occasional on-air and event host with OUTtv and was prominently featured in the network’s marketing including print advertisements, billboards and other marketing collateral.

In August 2003, Mouth Media inc. was launched. Mouth Media (www.mouthmedia.com) has grown to offer a wide and ever-increasing range of high level design and marketing. Mouth Media offers professional design and online marketing services including customized website design and development, logo design, print design, viral marketing, digital marketing, search engine optimization, custom programming solutions and more.

Mouth Media clients include Desjardins, Ryerson University, Mirvish Productions, The Gardiner Museum, Rogers, Canada’s Walk of Fame, The Director’s Guild of Canada, Fido, World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), Reese, Orville Redenbacher, Twizzlers, Jolly Rancher, Cottonelle, Mendocino, Canadian Tire and hundreds of entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Jason has also worked as a facilitator at the multi award-winning Toronto Business Development Centre (TBDC) where he facilitates a portion of the Ontario Self Employment Business (OSEB) program. His one-day seminar covers everything from developing a logo, corporate colours, business card design and overall branded image to website development, online marketing, email marketing, social media and more. His seminar arms new entrepreneurs with information and advice as they prepare to launch their businesses. Jason was awarded the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award at Toronto Business Development Centre’s 2010 TBDC Awards Gala.
