Principal, York Region District School Board
Kathy Lott has been in education for over 25 years. Growing up in a family of educators, Kathy was influenced at an early age to work in a teaching role. Kathy followed her love of physical and health education and found a way to earn an Honours degree in what she loved to do while studying at York University and Brock University. Again, following her heart, Kathy went on to earn additional qualifications in guidance that allowed her to work in a counseling role at a family of schools in the Toronto District School Board. Kathy worked as aGuidance and Social/Personal Skills Development Consultant in the TDSB for 5 years before moving to the York Region District School Board into a Vice-Principal role in 2004. In 2009, Kathy was appointed to the role of Principal at Ramer Wood PS and currently is an elementary school Principal at William Berczy P.S. in Unionville.
Kathy believes in and is committed to building a community of collaborative learners focused on student achievement and well-being with parents as partners in education. As a Principal, Kathy is dedicated to setting high academic and behavioral expectations within a culture where children feel a sense of belonging and have a safe environment to thrive. Together with her staff, Kathy creates opportunities for students to be active leaders in their own learning, critical thinkers, active participants in our community, and global citizens.

Kathy feels fortunate to go to work every day with a focus on the foundation of her daily work - making a difference in the life of a child at every opportunity.
